Washington, D. C., April 21, 2021 – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced that it will donate critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to small, Hispanic and minority owned companies in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland, to address their ongoing need for critical supplies. Businesses in these areas can fill out a form to apply to receive the USHCC CARES PPE Pack, that includes face shields, masks, a thermometer, floor decals for social distancing and hand sanitizer. Quantities are limited, and requests will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. This initiative is part of USHCC CARES, the USHCC’s Technical Assistance Program that launched last fall with funding for CARES Act through a grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The program is facilitated through eight COVID-19 Technical Assistance Centers (TACs) that provide ongoing readiness and support to help the minority business community to navigate COVID-19, and its economic fallout, by preparing them to have access to and fulfill new business and supply chain opportunities. The Washington, D.C. TAC is coordinating the PPE donations. “Small, Hispanic and minority owned companies continue to struggle with generating revenue and having access to funding and supplies to keep their customers and teams safe through the pandemic. The USHCC is addressing their ongoing challenges to get the safety and medical supplies that they need during the COVID-19 breakout, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Through these donations, we’re leading the work to support and provide sustainable solutions for our most vulnerable businesses. We’re working closely with our entrepreneurs to help them keep their businesses open, and their staff, providers and customers safe and healthy throughout the pandemic,” stated Ramiro Cavazos, President and CEO of the USHCC. To expand the breadth and impact of the USHCC MBDA CARES Act Grant Technical Assistance Program, the USHCC identified regional Hispanic chamber partners located in geographies with significant Hispanic and minority populations, and with no MBDA Business Center presence. Our participating partners are facilitating and hosting TACs in Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and our headquarters in Washington, D. C. including the following local chamber partners: The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce The Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County The Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce The Latino Chamber of Commerce of Nevada The Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce The USHCC MBDA CARES Act Grant Technical Assistance Program and USHCC CARES campaign will run through May 31, 2021.
